The Cardiology Department at MKUH is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated, highly experience device Cardiac Physiologist to join our Cardiac Rhythm Management team. In this key role, you will contribute to service expansion, continuous improvement and the delivery of high-quality patient care.
We are looking for an individual who values patient interaction, demonstrates excellent communication skills and thrives in a collaborative environment, maintaining positive relationships with internal and external partners. You will work as part of a supportive team, where teamwork and commitment are essential, and your ongoing professional development will be encouraged.
With the continuous growth of our local community, MKUH has recently invested in a refurbished Cath Lab to support our established PCI service. Alongside this, we have successfully launched a physiologist-led ILR implant service in close collaboration with our Consultant Cardiologists. Looking ahead, we continue to explore opportunities for innovation, ensuring our patients receive the very best care.

- Highly Specialist Cardiac Physiologist providing independent specialist support to the Cardiac Device Service in the implantation of Pacemakers (including LBAP) and ILR’s along with follow-up of the full range of implantable cardiac devices (implantable defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices, pacemakers and implantable loop recorders).
- To support PCI and diagnostic angiography.
- Performs and reports highly specialist cardiac assessments appropriate to role.
- Assists in the day-to-day coordination of the department.

Clinical responsibilities:
- To independently provide specialist and advanced Physiologist support to the Cardiac Device Service in the Implantation and Follow-Up of the full range of implantable cardiac devices (implantable defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices, pacemakers and implantable loop recorders), under the guidance of the Cardiac Device Lead and Lead Physiologist:
Patient care:
- To provide specialist and advanced assessment of cardiac devices within a range of settings, at an independent practice level under the guidance of the Cardiac Device Lead & Lead Cardiac Physiologist.
Research & development:
- To support the Lead Physiologist in maintaining clinical governance arrangements and to report and respond to untoward incidents.
Policy and service management:
- Contribute to service development in liaison with Lead Cardiac Physiologist.

- BHRS, EHRA, IBHRE Accreditation
- Member of the Society for Cardiological Science Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP)/AHCS
- Immediate life support

Experience

- Extensive experience in physiological investigations
- Extensive experience for cardiac rhythm management including remote monitoring service, FSN management and general physiological measurements experience
- Extensive knowledge of invasive cardiology with competency in simple and complex PCI, and simple/complex device implants
- Demonstrate competency to lead in ECG, ETT, HUTT and Ambulatory Monitoring, pacing and complex device follow-up
