Job overview
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Quality Analyst to join the Data Quality and Innovation Team within North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) on a 12-month fixed-term basis.
As part of a friendly and forward-thinking team, you will help to drive improvements in the accuracy, completeness and reliability of our data across the organisation. Your work will play a vital role in supporting operational performance, digital transformation, and patient-centred care.
This role will suit a motivated analyst with strong attention to detail, a logical mindset, and a passion for improving data quality and insight within a fast-paced NHS environment
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain accurate, timely data quality reports and dashboards.
- Support regular data quality audits and provide clear feedback to operational teams.
- Identify root causes of data quality issues and support teams to implement sustainable solutions.
- Extract and analyse data using SQL and Power BI, supporting operational and strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Informatics, Digital Innovation and Operations to ensure high-quality data capture and use.
- Promote and support compliance with national data standards and Information Governance principle
About You
You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent experience) and have demonstrable analytical skills, including proficiency in SQL and Microsoft Excel, and experience of Power BI report development. You’ll be confident working independently, managing competing priorities, and communicating effectively with colleagues at all levels.
Experience within the NHS or another healthcare setting is desirable but not essential — what’s most important is your curiosity, attention to detail and commitment to improving data quality to support better care.
Working for our organisation
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
By applying for this role, you will also be considered for the role of Information Analyst (Fixed Term). We will be holding joint interviews for both roles as they require the same skill set.
Should you wish to be considered only for this Data Quality Analyst role, please inform the recruiting manager either by email prior to the interview, or on the day of interview.
Please ensure you have read the full Job Description and Person Specification before applying for this role.
The Trust reserves the right to close this vacancy early if a large number of applications are received.
