Job overview
• Have you decided to take time out of training to consider your future career options?
• Would you like the freedom to try a different specialty that you were not exposed to as a foundation trainee?
• Are you looking to develop your clinical competence?
• Are you looking to go travelling but feeling the constraints of annual leave in a full-time post?
Then the role of FY3 Doctor at Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) may be perfect for you.
Main duties of the job
This is an opportunity to gain experience in Psychiatry at Core Trainee level within Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The Trust is keen to support the on-going development and career progression of these doctors who will work closely with their clinical supervisor. Similar to core trainees they will be allocated an educational supervisor who will provide pastoral support and offer career guidance.
Duties will include resident doctor psychiatry and medical input into the inpatient units and community psychiatry experience (depending upon the actual post).
Protected time is built into FY3 Doctor timetables to attend the weekly academic teaching programme which is currently mostly held online. There is also an active monthly FY3 peer group which all the FY3 doctors are encouraged to attend. Doctors are able to discuss cases, share experiences and work towards their appraisals. The sessions are generally facilitated by an experienced senior doctor.
