Band 5 Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)

West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

We are looking for a soon to be or currently qualified PWP to join our welcoming, supportive and well-staffed team. We are hoping to employ a passionate, committed PWP who keen to develop within the PWP role to join us in delivering excellent care to our community.
PWPs at H&F hold a reasonable caseload with adjustments for other duties held within the role – diversity in the PWP role is important to us to support your wellbeing and development, as well as to support the service in meeting its demands and engaging clients within the community to access support.
Once induction is completed PWPs can enjoy benefits such as a preceptorship and development plan, 5 paid CPD days per year, regular in service training, usual NHS benefits as well as regular team events, away days and social activities.
Once employed as a PWP, development towards advanced managerial / clinical roles at B6 / B7 / B8a within or outside of the PWP profession are supported through regular line management, appraisals and development opportunities.
PWPs in senior and lead positions within the service hold a voice and role within the senior management team to guide and support the PWP role to ensure wellbeing, development and value are a high priority – PWPs are a valued, supported and vital part of the H&F Talking Therapies team.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
Clinical caseload expectations: 6 x triage assessments (1hr) per week. 22 x GSH treatment sessions (30mins) per week. Total: 17hrs clinical work per week. This is subject to change based on service needs, at any time.
Alongside managing your caseload, you will also be responsible for running community workshops, attending meetings and completing admin; with adjustments for providing supervision or running a group, or project area, holding a champion role, and at least one evening session (12pm–8pm Monday to Thursday) per week. All staff are currently expected to work 2 days from the office, with 3 days working from home – this is subject to change at any time according to service needs.
You will need experience of risk management and assessment, and Step 2 treatment of Talking Therapies appropriate disorders. We are keen to fill gaps in experience though, through our comprehensive CPD and supervision programme, and we offer ongoing support via debrief and a duty at all times.

- Completed or near completion of BPS approved NHS Talking Therapies Low Intensity CBT Qualification.
- Registered as a PWP or working towards registration with the BPS/ BABCP. Should the applicant be employed, registration must be obtained within the first 4mths of employment to complete the probationary period.

Experience

- Experience of working clinically with people with common mental health problems.
- Ability to demonstrate a range of experiences in delivering evidence based Talking Therapies Low Intensity interventions such as; CCBT, guided self-help and group psycho-education
- Experience of working with clients who present with risk to themselves.
- Experience of managing sensitive safeguarding concerns.
- Experience of working sensitively and compassionately with diversity.
- Experience in challenging stigma and inequality, and promoting inclusive clinical practice.

- Experience in delivering LTC low intensity treatment, post LTC training.
- Experience in delivering supervision to S2 workers, post Talking Therapies supervision training
- Experience in developing groups / resources or therapeutic content within low intensity CBT parameters
- Experience delivering assessment and LICBT treatment in a language other than English.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

- Knowledge of working sensitively with diversity (including working with black & minority ethnic groups)
- Knowledge of NHS Policies, procedures guidelines and clinical governance
- Skills in assessment (including clinical risk assessment) and record keeping.
- Knowledge of outcome measures to support treatment success and their use in clinical and audit purposes
- Knowledge of Evidence based practice.
- High level of communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive.
- Ability to work effectively with interpreters.
- High standard of report writing
- Ability to manage caseload, changing priorities and deadlines.
- An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
- Ability to accept and use different forms of clinical supervision appropriately and effectively
- Good level of computer skills with knowledge of Word and Excel and ability to input information, use an email system and produce simple plans/reports

- Holds a private and confidential space at home, when required to work from home. (Subject to trust and covid-19 regulations).
- Ability to navigate hybrid working and maintain high levels of communication and motivation. Currently required to travel into the office for F2F work at least 2 days per week. This is subject to change at any time as per service requirements
- Available to work one evening shift per week – providing F2F treatment at our Hammersmith base or in the community.
