An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian to join our team of 45 dietitians, dietetic assistants and administration at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford. This is a 0.8wte Band 6 post.
The post-holder will work within our established H&N oncology dietetic teams, providing support to both inpatients and outpatients undergoing cancer treatment at St Luke’s Cancer Centre. The primary focus of this role will be to support the H&N Oncology dietetic team but there will be an opportunity to support and gain experience with the other specialty teams in the department. You will have a very varied caseload and will work within several MDTs. You will be expected to provide high quality nutritional care both in face-to-face and telephone clinics.
You will join a forward thinking dietetic team which undertakes the training of student dietitians, and also focuses on research and audit in its areas of activity to promote clinical effectiveness in patient care. You will be encouraged to develop both personally and professionally, with the chance to shadow and learn from specialist oncology dietitians.

The post holder will work as part of the H&N Oncology dietetic team sharing responsibility for the smooth running of the service in line with Trust performance targets. They will provide dietetic support within an agreed caseload to individuals requiring treatment for Head and Neck cancers. This will include those patients under the care of the Surgical, Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy teams. The delivery of this service can take place in outpatient clinics, at ward level and in the radiotherapy unit. The post holder will have an active role in teaching other professionals, including students and patients, both as individuals and in groups. A considerate, patient focused service will be provided in all dealings with patients and with staff around the hospital and throughout the Cancer Network.

Qualifications
Meini prawf hanfodol
- BSc in Dietetics and registration with HCPC.
- Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development.

- Member of the British Dietetics Association.
- Membership of BDA specialist group, e.g. Oncology.
Knowledge
Meini prawf hanfodol
- Post qualification experience including nutrition support and general surgery.
- Evidence of MDT work.
- Experience of teaching / lecturing to a variety of health professionals.
- Experience of effective working with a multidisciplinary team.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.

- Post qualification experience in oncology and palliative care.
- Experience of working in acute and community settings.
- Knowledge and experience of using the Cerner system.
