As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
- Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
- Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.
The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

Job overview
This post is designated for a Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse.
This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week).
Furness CMHT provides services to the population of Furness and is based in Barrow-in-Furness. The team is well-established and known for its friendly, supportive culture. It benefits from a visible and approachable leadership team committed to clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
This is a challenging and rewarding role within a busy service. Applicants should have current or previous experience working in a mental health setting. You will need to demonstrate clinical confidence in supporting individuals with complex needs and the ability to work effectively within a multi-professional team. We are looking for someone with a collaborative, enthusiastic approach and a genuine passion for promoting recovery-focused care for adults with severe and enduring mental health conditions.
Main duties of the job
The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to work with flexibility, adaptability, and a proactive mindset.
The successful candidate will be expected to undertake leadership responsibilities, including supporting the learning and development of junior team members.
We actively encourage staff to continue developing their specialist knowledge and skills. Your professional growth will be supported through clinical and managerial supervision, team and peer support, internal and external training opportunities, and the Trust’s appraisal process.
The service is based at Duddon House, Fairfield Lane, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA13 9AZ, and operates between 9:00am and 5:00pm.

- Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with current NMC registration.
- Evidence of post-registration professional development
- Ability and willingness to undertake further relevant training.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Comprehensive understanding of mental health conditions and treatment approaches.
- Knowledge of mental health legislation.
- Awareness of safeguarding principles and risk management.
- Understanding of recovery-focused and person-centred evidence based practice.
Experience

- Post registered experience required
- Ability to carry out comprehensive assessments, including risk assessments and care planning.
- Competence in safe administration of medication and monitoring side effects.
