This is an exciting opportunity to join the Chronic Pain team in a dedicated Chronic Pain post for a fixed term (3 months). 

The working conditions in this post are equitable to the current consultants.  

The applicant should possess FRCS or equivalent qualification, be fully registered with the GMC and be on the Specialist Register/obtained Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a new balanced pain consultant who will work as part of an MDT team and cover Pain clinics and theatres at our sites. They will also be expected to work flexibly and to be able to cover joint MDT clinics along with a psychologist as per service requirements. Candidates will be expected to support the delivery of a high-quality Multidisciplinary Team pain service meeting local referral to treatment targets and waiting times and possess the ability to take full and independent responsibility for the clinical care of patients. 

The candidate will be expected to participate in departmental and trust teaching and clinical governance and audit activities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be expected to assist the West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust in achieving its commitments to the National Plan for modernisation of the NHS, including achieving the 18-week patient pathway. 

Job Plan: 

A part-time appointment with 8 Programmed Activities (PA’s) is available. 

The Job Plan will be discussed and agreed on appointment and is subject to review.

  • MBBS or equivalent FRCA or equivalent Must be on the Specialist Register of GMC or within 6 months of CCT (and gaining specialist registration) at time of interview
