Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Site Nurse Practitioners team.  This is permanent, fulltime,  position although a secondment would be considered for the right candidate. We are looking for a diverse, enthusiastic individual who likes the challenge of day to day operational activity of the trust. This job will involve patient flow, senior clinical support and site management.

We are looking for a highly clinical experienced nurse with management experience.  The post holder will work rotational shifts covering day and night.   

 

Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE

 

·       Responsibility for the timely and appropriate clinical placement of patients by planning and managing the effective utilisation of in-patient beds providing an efficient and effective service for both emergency and elective admissions.

 

·       To provide senior nurse support through advanced clinical interventions and clinical management support for all the clinical areas.

 

·       To ensure that patients receive timely assessment, referral and transfer from the A&E department, MAU and SAU in order that clinical care can be optimum and the national priorities achieved.

 

·       To troubleshoot during the patient pathway to assist the clinical areas to improve the patient experience.

 

Responsibility for site management out of normal working hours, liaising with the on- call teams as necessary. Assist with site management issues in hours, liaising with all appropriate teams and departments as necessary to maintain normal

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

This role actively supports the patient’s pathway through the hospital, both managerially and clinically. The four principle responsibilities of this team are:

 

·         To facilitate the timely and appropriate clinical placement of patients

·         To provide clinical advanced nursing practice and decision making.

·         To operationally support and manage the hospital site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

·         To provide clinical and professional support and leadership to the clinical areas as appropriate.

 

The focus of the team is to create seamless patient flow throughout the hospital sometimes in collaboration with outside agencies, identifying and troubleshooting problems early in order to ensure safe and timely patient flow within the RSCH.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse
Desirable criteria
  • Post registration qualification or equivalent experience in an acute setting.
  • Teaching qualification e.g mentor prep, ENB 998, C&G 730 or equivalent.
  • Experience of working at a senior level/manager level/supervisor/ in specialist area.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Five years post-registration experience and/or experience that demonstrates effective management of complex clinical situations.
  • CPD - Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
