The Department of Medical Physics at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust, Guildford provides medical physics services to the hospital, especially to St Luke’s Cancer Centre, and to a number of surrounding hospitals. The work of the Department covers six main areas: the National Coordinating Centre for the Physics of Mammography (NCCPM); Nuclear Medicine Physics and Radiopharmacy; Radiotherapy Physics; the Regional Radiation Protection Service; Scientific Computing. The Department is administratively in the Strategic Business Unit of Oncology and Medical Physics.
The Scientific Computing Section provides the specialised scientific and clinical computing support that is essential for the safe and effective delivery of many of the Department's services. This includes the management of commercial and proprietary software and solutions and the design, development and support of clinical, image processing and administration systems and databases.

An experienced project manager is required to join the Scientific Computing section in Medical Physics. The Project Manager will support, facilitate and coordinate daily trial/project activities and play a critical role in the conduct of the studies and ensuring milestones are tracked and monitored. By performing these duties, the Project Manager will work with the research lead and wider team, sponsor, and Trust to support and provide guidance on the administration of the compliance, financial, personnel and other related aspects of the various studies. Working closely with the general administrative team they will be responsible for ensuring relevant trials are set up and managed in accordance with regulatory, sponsor and RD&I Office requirements.
You should have an honours degree in a relative subject and previous experience with project management and healthcare based research.

Support the delivery of a range of deliverables in complex environments, with experience in liaising with a number of stakeholders across multiple acute sites

- Project Management qualifications such as PRINCE2
Knowledge and Experience

- Experience working in R&D within the NHS
- Experience working in an academic or research environment
- Demonstrable competence and personal experience in Project and /or Program Management
- Experience of health service and in particular working alongside medical, IT and PACS staff
- Experience supervising and managing staff
- Knowledge of research setup at Trusts
- Knowledge of GCP
- Knowledge of NHS Trust IT and PACS systems
- Knowledge of IG, DPAI and confidentiality agreements
- Experience working with R&D software tools including Edge
- Knowledge of Breast Cancer Screening Programs
- Knowledge of financial tracking and projections
- Experience in customer services, networking and working with a range of stakeholders within and external to the NHS
- Excellent practical analytical skills, including statistical analysis
- Knowledge of NHS finance and financial tools including SBS and financial tracking
- Experience of trial set up and monitoring

- Experience of working on a number of project or trial sites
- Excellent IT skills (Microsoft advanced-level Word, Excel and Outlook)
