There is an opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist to join the Milton Keynes Adult Acute SLT team to work with people with acquired swallowing and communication difficulties as a result of stroke, and other general medical conditions.
You will be based in the inpatient service to carry out assessment, treatment and management of adults with acquired speech, language, voice and communication needs, and eating and drinking difficulties.
We are a welcoming and friendly team of Speech and Language Therapists who work across the inpatient and outpatient services at Milton Keynes University Hospital. We are passionate about delivering high quality speech and language therapy and have a strong commitment to ongoing service development and evidenced based practice.

The post holder will carry out assessment, treatment and management of adults with acquired speech, language, voice and communication needs, and eating and drinking difficulties, secondary to neurological, progressive, and functional conditions.
• To provide speech and language therapy within the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service
• To provide advice, training and support to relatives, carers, non-specialists and other professionals working with adults in a range of settings including health and social care settings.
• To be an effective member of the SLT team and the broader multidisciplinary team.
• To participate in service development as required.
• To undertake other duties, as requested by the line manager to ensure the efficient, effective running of the SLT Service.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent
- Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
- Registered with Health and Care Professions Council
Additional Training
Essential criteria
- Evidence of successful completion of specialist courses up to Masters degree or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Membership of relevant CEN
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of clinical placements and specific learning
- Experience of assessing, planning and implementing a treatment plan

- Experience with caseload management
Skills

- Ability to work in pressurised environment
