West London NHS Trust  provides a full range of mental health, community  and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.

We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

NHS Talking Therapies Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner - Band 5* pending confirmation of passing training

 

We are an established and friendly service looking for an enthusiastic PWP seeking variety, new experiences and autonomy.

 

Clinical caseload for a full time PWP: 7 x assessments, 19 x treatments. Job plan will also include screening referrals.

 

We invest in staff with:

·       A healthy work-life balance, including a hybrid working week.

·       Reflective practice, excellent case management and clinical skills supervision.

·       5 days allocated to CPD with a comprehensive program to choose from.

·       The chance to develop clinical and managerial skills (e.g. opportunities for involvement in champion roles, service improvement projects, LTC training and supervisor opportunities).   

·       Regular line management and support from our dedicated wellbeing team.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

·       You will support the psychological care of clients accessing the service. Clinical duties include:

-screening referrals
-assessing clients to determine their needs and suitability
-offering a range of treatment options (e.g. GSH and groups)
-clinical administration
-liaising with healthcare providers to support onward referrals.

·       You will work with clients through a variety of means (telephone, online and face to face)

·       Opportunities to hold a champion and supervisor role (one-year post qualification)

·       You will support people from different cultural backgrounds, ages and use interpreters as needed. You will be passionate about providing equal opportunities.

·       You will work autonomously, following a plan agreed in line management and in accordance with service policies and procedures.

·       We are committed to supporting you with regular CPD, supervision, daily debrief/duty and weekly safeguarding debriefs.

·       You will be based in The Isleworth Centre (team base) and other sites in the London Borough of Hounslow at least two days per week. 

You will work at least one late shift (12– 8pm, Mon- Thurs).

  • Completed or near completion of Talking Therapies Low Intensity
  • worker/Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner qualification
  • PWP Registration with the British
  • Psychological Society (BPS) or the British
  • Association of Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

  • A second class honours degree or higher in psychology
  • Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health
  • practice and/or research design and analysis
  • Talking Therapies LTC Training

Experience

  • Experience of working clinically with people with mental health problems and/or other disabilities
  • Ability to demonstrate a range of post-qualification experiences in offering and delivering the range of evidence based Talking Therapies low Intensity interventions such as, guided self-help and group psycho-education
  • Experience of working with people who present with risk to themselves
  • Experience of managing sensitive safeguarding concerns
  • Experience of working sensitively and compassionately with diversity.
  • Experience in challenging stigma and inequality, and promoting inclusive clinical practice.

  • Experience of co-working with staff in other agencies (e.g. health visitors or staff in drug and alcohol services)
  • Experience in developing groups/resources or therapeutic content within low intensity CBT parameters
  • Experience delivering assessment and LICBT treatment in a language other than English.

  • Knowledge of different models of mental health/mental illness
  • Knowledge of NHS Policies, procedures and guidelines and clinical governance
  • Knowledge of working sensitively with diversity (including working with black & minority ethnic groups)
  • Knowledge of Evidence based practice.
  • Skills in assessment (including clinical risk assessment) and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of outcome measures and their use in clinical and audit purposes
  • High level of communication skills (written and verbal) including an ability to communicate and work in settings in which the atmosphere may be highly emotive
  • An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context
  • Ability to accept and use different forms of clinical supervision appropriately and effectively.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with interpreters.

  • Ability to carry out a range of evaluation and monitoring techniques

  • Holds a private and confidential space at home, necessary for working from home
  • Able to travel and work on site at the main hub (The Isleworth Centre, 146 Twickenham Rd) as well as other site locations throughout the London Borough of Hounslow, at least two days per week.
