Job overview
The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced consultant to work a 7PA job plan in medical oncology (breast).
The successful candidate will join the multidisciplinary team consultants across Medical Oncology, clinical fellows, a specialist registrar, nurse clinicians, a pharmacist, clinical nurse specialists, research nurses, project managers and clinical trial administrators
Main duties of the job
The duties and responsibilities of the role, which may be adjusted in the light of changing/developing priorities, include:
• Attendance and review of patients in the weekly breast Medical Oncology clinics. This will include new and follow up patients, on treatment.
• Attendance and review of patients at weekly research clinic
• Participation in Breast MDT
• Completion of patient administration tasks
• Completion of and maintenance of Good Clinical Practice Certification (regulatory requirement for clinical trial participation, if appropriate).
• Become familiar with ongoing clinical trials, as appropriate (for context when seeing outpatients in clinic).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The appointee will be expected to develop a significant interest in Breast oncology delivering clinic duties at the Withington site. The post holder will support a weekly research clinic and play an active role in the Breast MDT.
There is collaborative working within both the Breast medical oncology and research teams which the successful applicant will be expected to participate in.

It is the requirement of the Trust that all new consultant colleagues must have 0.25 SPAs within their job plan to support Trust appraisal and supervision requirements. This can either be as appraiser or a supervisor for medical staff or Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP).

Essential criteria
- MRCP or equivalent qualification
- GMC registration with a license to practice Only for substantive consultants, NOT applicable for locum consultants Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register via one of the following: a. Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) b. Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR). Applicants who are not on the Specialist Register at the time of application must be eligible for inclusion within 6 months of the AAC date to be considered for appointment. - Evidence of productive ethical research relevant to oncology
