As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
  • Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
  • Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

Senior Speech and Language Therapist

Paediatrics - Band 6

1 x  full time permanent post - Base: Barbara Castle Way Health Centre 

Are you a qualified Speech & Language Therapist wanting to use your skills working with children, young people and their families?

The Children’s Integrated Therapy Service are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated qualified speech & language therapist to join our experienced and friendly Blackburn with Darwen based locality team. Experience of working in paediatrics is desirable but not essential.  

We work with children and young people aged 0-19 with well developed and evidenced based pathways covering the needs of children with communication and eating, drinking and swallowing needs. We can offer clinical and management supervision, specialist support by experienced senior staff, continuing professional development and specialist SLT Forums. The Children’s Therapy service has a strong network of clinical leads leading the care pathways we deliver.  

The team comprises of speech and language therapists and speech and language therapy assistants. We work closely with colleagues in health, education and social care to provide a genuinely child-centred service. We work in a variety of locations, including clinics, children’s own homes, nurseries and schools.

The successful candidate must be able to effectively manage their own time and demonstrate excellent communication skills. An interest in working with children and their families is essential. A therapist with experience in eating, drinking and swallowing is desirable. 

The Children’s Integrated Therapy and Nursing Team are led by a multidisciplinary management team.  This is an exciting time to join our team as clinicians are involved in developing our innovative services.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of a broad range of assessment tools for children with diverse needs
  • Knowledge of a range of therapy techniques and programmes for children with diverse needs/ related to client group

Experience

  • Evidence of recent and relevant post graduate experience encompassing the specialist field of practice. that demonstrates an in depth knowledge of specialist area
  • Multi-disciplinary/multi-agency collaborative working
