Job overview

We are Looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking, passionate and motivated nurse/allied health professionals or Children and Young People's Mental Health Practitioner to join our RAIS (Responsive Assessment and Intensive Support) within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service within East Lancashire.

The role is part of a service to provide timely response for a small but significant complex number of young people who may require a timely assessment and short-term intervention.

The service has been developed to meet the increasing number of young people presenting with complex needs who are seeking a rapid assessment on a paediatric ward, community or other place of safety.
You will be a dynamic and forward-thinking practitioner who is prepared to meet the challenges of working with young people who require an urgent response from our service, delivering the highest quality of care for the children and young people in East Lancashire.

An ability to assess, formulate and intervene from a multi-theoretical perspective is a must as is the ability to work with young people and families from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds.
Significant experience in CYPMH or adult Mental health is essential whilst knowledge of IT systems would be advantageous. Supervision requirements are acknowledged.

Main duties of the job

The role of the RAIS (Responsive and Intensive Support) clinical coordinator is integral to the MDT, delivering services for children and young people who have severe and complex mental health difficulties and challenges up to the age of 18. The role will focus on providing highly specialist assessments in line with evidence-based practice of young people in different settings to compile a risk management plan when young people require intensive assessment and support. This role will cover the hours of 08:00 – 22:00 in a variety of different settings including the paediatric ward, therefore shifts and weekend working are part of the working practice.

The post holder will work autonomously to provide clinical interventions to children and young people and their families across Pennine Lancashire who are struggling with mental health difficulties or who are at risk of suicide, self-harm or other mental health issues that are deemed urgent.

As a RAIS Clinical Coordinator you will direct and oversee the day-to-day delivery of clinical services provided by the RAIS team. You will ensure that the Operational Leads are fully cognisant of significant day-to-day issues through effective and proactive agreed communication. You will contribute to the clinical management of the team’s caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centres principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions delivered both in our hospitals and in the community.
