As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
- Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
- Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.
The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. An exciting opportunity has arisen following the promotion of a successful colleague for a motivated and dedicated nurse to join the team in Avenham Ward as a Senior Staff Nurse within a busy Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) on a permanent basis.
Working in Avenham Ward offers the opportunity to be part of a supportive and dynamic team committed to delivering excellence in mental health care.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will:
Provide professional leadership and support to all members of the nursing team, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Demonstrate strong clinical competence and experience in line with the person specification.
Deliver high-quality, patient-centred care within a fast-paced and challenging PICU environment.
Work flexibly across a seven-day rota to meet the needs of the service.

Essential criteria
- Registered Mental Health Nurse qualification
- On-going registration with the NMC
- Specialist qualification or equivalent level in skills and development
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Knowledge and practice of Mental Health Act 1983
- Demonstrate understanding of how research has influenced practice
Experience
Essential criteria
- Supervision and management of staff
- Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of assessing, planning and implementing and reviewing care needs
