Main duties of the job
- Implement Trust and local policies and contribute to any proposed changes to Midwifery working practices or procedures.
- Support the Trust Clinical Governance policy and participate in clinical benchmarking, audit and research to support excellence in midwifery care.
- Apply reflective practice and self-audit to evaluate and improve own clinical practice.
- Actively promote and encourage a healthy lifestyle, advising and arranging support for women as required.
- Work as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team with a good understanding of the various roles to ensure appropriate referrals are made.

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Midwife (NMC)
- Educated to degree level in relevant subject area
- Examination of the Newborn (NIPE)
Desirable criteria
- Assessor/mentorship course or full SSSA equivalent
- FRSH competency implant insertion
- Evidence of recent CPD
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completed preceptorship
- Mentorship experience as Practice supervisor/ Assessor
- Experience with Neonatal IV administration and transitional care
- 1 year post registration clinical experience working as an RM in the UK
Desirable criteria
- Experience with BSOT system
- Experience in conducting audits
- Involvement in quality improvement projects
Skills/knowledge/ abilities
Essential criteria
- Able to demonstrate a working knowledge in standard setting and quality management.
- IT skills including MS office, Excel and PowerPoint
- Able to manage difficult situations effectively
- Understanding and knowledge in delivering transitional care
Desirable criteria
- Experienced as take charge or shift lead
- Management of complaints/ Compliments
- Ability to demonstrate evidence of line management of non registrant staff i.e. MSWs
