Job overview

We are looking for a Senior Mammographer to join our radiographic workforce at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals Trust.

The post is 15 hours per week, equivalent to two days, in St Albans City Hospital. 

The purpose of this mammography post is to be an effective member of the Radiography team, providing a high standard of radiographic services to Radiologists, patients and service users.

There will be an expectation to supervise junior staff and students.

Main duties of the job

The primary role is to be an integral member of the mammography and one stop breast services at St Albans City Hospital.

In this role you will be required to work closely with our Lead Mammographer and Breast Consultant, Radiology Breast Consultants and Radiology management team.

You will work alongside clinical and non-clinical colleagues to provide the best possible experience to our patients whilst at the same time meeting performance standards and targets.

Proven ability to engage clinical and non-clinical teams is essential.

The post holder will deputise for the lead Mammographer in their absence, assisting and supporting to deliver the departments strategic and operational priorities.

Person specification

Education and qualifications:

Essential criteria
  • BSc or DCR in Diagnostic Radiography.
  • Post graduate certificate/diploma in Mammography.
  • HCPC registration.
Desirable criteria
  • Management/Leadership qualification or experience.

Knowledge:

Essential criteria
  • Legislation regarding ionising radiation.
  • Proven knowledge base of mammography and NHSBSP.
  • Clinical & information governance and evidence-based practice.
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of change management.

Experience:

Essential criteria
  • Evidenced experience in Mammography.
  • Experience of working with other divisions/interpersonal skills.
Desirable criteria
  • Understanding of recent developments with Mammography/Radiology/NHS.
  • Teaching, training, mentoring experience.
