We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-organised individual to join our friendly team as a Senior Audiology Assistant. We are looking for someone with experience of working with the elderly in a social care or community care environment and the flexibility to assist the department with both clinical work and its administrative needs. Duties will include hearing aid repairs clinics, hearing assessments, assisting senior staff to test adults, and with all administrative duties.

 

As this post will include domiciliary visits, a full driving license will be essential and you will be required to use your own car for these visits.

 

The post holder will be based at the Audiology Department at The Royal London Hospital Whitechapel.

 

Full training will be given to enable the successful applicant to gain the clinical and other skills required, including attending accredited external courses. No formal qualifications are required but educated to GCSE standard or equivalent is preferable. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential for this post.

 

The Audiology service is managed by Bart’s Health and we cover five districts in East London - Tower Hamlets, City and Hackney and Newham, Waltham Forest and Redbridge. . We provide a service at many health centres and hospitals including, The Royal London Hospital, Homerton Hospital and Newham University General Hospital, Vicarage Lane and West Ham Lane Health Centre in Stratford, Newham and Whipps Cross Hospital.

·         To provide hearing aid maintenance for housebound hearing aid users.

  • To assist with diagnostic testing of adults.
  • To be responsible for the safe use and calibration of equipment and ensuring accurate patient health records are maintained.
  • To assist in hearing aid clinics for adults in the acute and community settings and the patients home environment.
  • To perform reassessments on adult existing hearing aid users.
  • To assist with administration duties where required.
  • To plan and prioritise own workload within the framework of service delivery, priorities as defined by the line manager.
