The Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to appoint a Consultant Orthodontist to a new full-time post, working across Royal Surrey County Hospital (3 PAs) and Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital (7 PAs).

The successful candidate will join an established and supportive orthodontic team of three Consultant Orthodontists, delivering a comprehensive orthodontic service to the populations of Surrey and North Hampshire. There is significant opportunity to develop and enhance orthodontic services, particularly for the local population served by Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital. Existing experience at consultant level within the unit is desirable.

Main duties of the job

The substantive Consultant post will complement an established team comprising 3 Consultant Orthodontists providing a comprehensive service to the population of Surrey and North Hampshire. The post holder will have the opportunity to develop services particularly for the local population of North Hampshire Hospital.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Full registration and a license to practice with the GDC.
  • On the GDC Specialist register for Orthodontics
  • BDS or equivalent MFDS
  • Membership in Orthodontics or equivalent
  • Intercollegiate Fellowship Examination in Orthodontics or equivalent
  • Possession of a Certificate of Accreditation or eligibility for a CCT in Orthodontics
  • Higher Research Degree (e.g. MSc / MPhil)
Desirable criteria
  • Management Training
  • Teaching/Education Qualification

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Fully trained Orthodontist
  • Understand the principals of Clinical Governance
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of primary research relevant to Orthodontics / Publications in refereed journals
