Main duties of the job
We are delighted to be able to offer the opportunity for an experienced and passionate nurse to join our team as a Clinical Nurse specialist in bowel cancer screening for Hampshire .
If you have an established track record of working within the screening service and are looking for an opportunity to utilise your development and leadership skills within a well established team then this is the role for you.
The role is to support and develop a nursing team, promote the screening service regionally and uphold the programme standards through audit and change management.
You will work alongside a Programme Manager and a Clinical Director and work within a multi disciplinary team and manage a nursing team across 3 hospital sites within Hampshire.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This is an exciting role that requires the post holder to be responsible for the clinical leadership of the Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) nursing team within Hampshire. You will also have some involvement in the operational management of the screening programme.
You will need to
1. Deliver a high-quality, equitable screening service that adheres to national standards and guidelines while maximising participation rates and positive patient experiences.
2.Be responsible for providing highly specialised advice which contributes to the diagnosis, care or education of patients and staff within the bowel cancer screening programme.
3.Lead quality assurance activity and specialist BCSP knowledge within the service, evaluating service delivery, identifying areas for improvement and initiate change, working in partnership with the programme manager to meet demand with capacity.
4.Develop and maintain robust clinical governance frameworks, driving continuous quality improvement, and foster a culture of excellence within the service.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience
Essential criteria
- Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
- Degree in relevant subject
- Knowledge of health promotion
- Relevant leadership course or experience
- Significant relevant post registration education and experience
- Experience of providing training and education within a team
- Experience of quality assurance, audit and research
- Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality
- Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice and support an excellent learning environment
- IT skills- proficient computer skills and use of MS office and hospital databases
- Experience of autonomous practice
Desirable criteria
- Advanced communication skills qualification/training
- Specialist screening practitioner module at either level 6 or 7
- Specialist knowledge of national and local agenda on improving cancer services, specifically colorectal cancer, endoscopic procedures and improving screening uptake.
- Previous experience of a leadership role and management of change and team development
- Experience as a SSP within BCSP or within a comparable service
- Evidence of mentoring and developing staff within a team
- Evidence of project management, audit participation and evaluation
- Leadership qualification/training
- Mentorship qualification, teaching experience /qualification
- Evidence of presenting skills and data compilation and presentation
