Director of Medicine & Unscheduled Care

Salary: Senior Executive Level 5 - £97,642 - £120,821 (pay award pending)

Location: Trust Headquarters, Craigavon Area Hospital, Northern Ireland

Southern Health & Social Care Trust is seeking to appoint an exceptional leader to join its Senior Leadership Team following recent restructuring and the imminent retirement of the existing postholder.

Reporting to the Director of Operations – Adult Community & Acute Services, this role is pivotal to shaping the future of adult health and social care services across the Trust.

The postholder will provide strategic and operational leadership across some of our most critical and high-risk services, working at the heart of the unscheduled care system to improve patient flow, safety, outcomes and experience. Just as importantly, the role requires strong collaborative leadership — working closely with community, social care and primary care colleagues to deliver genuinely integrated models of care that reduce avoidable admissions and support timely discharge. They will be credible, values-driven leaders, committed to improving outcomes, safety, experience and flow across the adult system.

This appointment offers a rare opportunity to influence care delivery at scale and play a central role in the Trust’s transformation agenda.
