Job overview

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated physiotherapist to join our expanding service. You will support this innovative team with excellent clinical and team leadership skills that deliver high quality patient cantered care and support the service leads to deliver department objectives and service developments. The post rotates between primary and secondary care. 

You will work as part of a large MSK department that includes band 5, 6, 7, advanced practice and consultant physiotherapists who work across primary and secondary care.    

We have a well-established in-service training programme, but also encourage post-graduate course for all members static within the MSK team.  Our service also has close links with the internationally renowned QMUL Sports Medicine Department with staff often collaborating on research and service developments. 

 

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist musculoskeletal physiotherapy treatment to outpatients as part of the overall therapy provision. The post holder will be responsible for their own caseload providing thorough clinical assessment, planning treatment and appropriate discharge from the service adapting practice to suit the needs of the patient. To provide clinical supervision and appraisal to junior staff, therapy assistants and students.

Essential criteria
  • Diploma/Degree in Physiotherapy
  • Member of the Health and Care Professions Council
Desirable criteria
  • Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Post graduate experience and experience in relevant MSK outpatient and Orthopaedic clinical settings.
  • Appropriate post registration experience.
  • Documented evidence of CPD, in accordance with HCPC recommendations
  • Experience of working as part of a team uni-professional and multi- professional team.
  • Advice, supervision, appraisal, training and support to more junior staff, support staff and students.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of audit/research.
  • Experience of sole working as part of an out of hour’s emergency weekend service.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Good knowledge of current best practice in physiotherapy in the relevant setting.
  • Understanding and application of risk management.
  • Understand legal responsibilities of the profession and the associated code of ethics.
  • Demonstrate understanding and previous participation in activity to support the clinical governance agenda
  • In-depth knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to client group.
