Job overview
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.
Please see below for detailed job description of the role.
Main duties of the job
The Southampton Oncology Centre is one of the largest tertiary referral centres in the country, treating a wide range of common and rare tumours, making it an exciting and innovative place to work. The Centre has close links with Southampton University, there is a research facility on site and clinical trials are a huge part of our work.
As part of the oncology pharmacy team, you will help provide a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to six in-patient wards, including a purpose built teenage and young adult unit, a haematopoietic stem cell transplant unit, medical and clinical oncology and an acute oncology review and admissions service.
As part of a team of clinical oncology pharmacists you will be focussed on fulfilling the diverse pharmaceutical needs of the oncology centre to ensure that we provide an exceptional experience for our patients and other service users.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to gain experience of clinical oncology pharmacy in a large supportive team. You will gain experience of clinical pharmacy in an in-patient and out-patient setting, electronic prescribing and aseptic production and commissioning. As part of your ongoing development there may be an opportunity to become a non-medical prescriber in a particular specialist area of interest.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.
At UHS, we’re committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.
At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognising that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We’re committed to creating an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered to make a meaningful impact in our communities. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.
