Job overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Gynaecology to join our expanding Private Care division within Sainsbury's wing hammersmith hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred private gynae-oncology services within a world‑class clinical environment.

As a CNS, you will provide expert specialist nursing care, advanced clinical assessment, and holistic support to patients across the private gynaecology pathway. Working closely with consultants, the multidisciplinary team, and the private care leadership team, you will drive excellence in practice, service development, and patient experience.

 

Main duties of the job

Deliver expert specialist nursing care for private gynaecology patients across outpatient, diagnostic, procedural, and inpatient pathways.

Act as an autonomous practitioner undertaking advanced clinical assessments, care planning, and coordination of complex cases.

Provide specialist advice, education, and psychological support to patients and their families.

Lead and contribute to service improvement initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency, and the premium private‑care experience.

Support consultant surgeons and the MDT in delivering timely, seamless pathways, including pre-operative optimisation, postoperative reviews, and follow up care.

Promote high standards of practice through clinical leadership, audit, research, and evidence based care.

Deliver teaching, training, and professional development for nursing and support staff within private care.

Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, governance processes, and Trust values.

Education/ qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Gynaecology, Gynae-Oncology course
  • Teaching or Mentorship course
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant masters or willingness to undertake
  • Oncology course
  • SACT course

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 5 years Post registration experience in Gynaecology/ Gynae-Oncology or Oncology
  • 2 years previous experience at Band 6/7 in the field of Gynaecology or Oncology
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in caring for patients and families affected by bereavement and loss
  • Private healthcare experience

Skills/knowledge/ abilities

Desirable criteria
  • Advanced communication skills training course
  • Gynaecology diagnostics e.g. Nurse Hysteroscopist / Colposcopist / Ultrasound scanning
  • History Taking and Physical Examination course
  • Stoma care experience
