Recovery Support Worker

Our Vision is to provide the best mental health, learning disability, autism, community, and physical health services for the populations we serve.
As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
- Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
- Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.
The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

Skylark Ward is a specialist 11 bedded unit providing inpatient service for female older adults.
The Unit provides assessment and interventions for clients, operates seven days a week and is accessible 24hrs per day.
We are inviting applications from enthusiastic and motivated individual who is keen to work in an acute mental health care setting. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 3 Recovery Support Worker to join our team at the Skylark Unit, Avondale, Royal Preston Hospital. This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, offering the successful candidate the chance to be part of a supportive and dynamic multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality care to patients. We are looking for individuals who are compassionate, resilient, and committed to delivering person-centred care within a busy inpatient environment.

We are looking for highly motivated staff who can demonstrate compassion and excellent interpersonal qualities. The successful candidate must be willing to work in fast paced environment, have a positive outlook and ensure that delivering a quality service, which genuinely engages with service users, carers and other stakeholders, is a key priority.
The successful post holder will be expected to be able to work shifts covering 24 hours, seven days a week.

Qualifications

- NVQ Level III or Higher in Health and Social Care or QCF Diploma in Health and Social Care or an Interest in completing the above training or can demonstrate the equivalent skills and knowledge gained through work (paid/unpaid)
Knowledge

- Demonstrates an understanding of the issues surrounding mental illness.
- Understands their duties and responsibilities under the Data Protection Act with regard to service user confidentiality.
Experience

- Working in a caring environment. For example, nursing home, care home, hospital ward, home carer etc.
- Working as part of a team
- Up to date or working knowledge of de-escalation techniques, Control and restraint and Management of Violence and Aggression (MOVA)

- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to demonstrate diplomacy, tact and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage highly stressful and emotive situations.
