Job Title: Clinical Pharmacist (Specialist)

Contract Type: Permanent

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

As part of our team, you will solving medicine-related clinical problems across a wide array of clinical specialties.

Our service is a recognised centre of excellence, and unique to southern England. Our working environment means there’ll always be senior clinical pharmacists on hand when you need them. We are well known for being a friendly supportive team, and we’ll support your development through mentoring and training designed to meet your individual needs.

All our pharmacists have short and long-term projects on the go, including training and supervising trainee pharmacists, practice research, and web publications. It’s a great way to build your CV with higher level experience in a way that is not available to many other band 7 pharmacists. Our award-winning NHS website www.medicineslearningportal.org is used throughout the UK and 94% of pharmacists say it improves their clinical decisions.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 30% lower than London and 17 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a very clinically-focused service, and advise doctors, nurses, and pharmacists in primary and secondary care how to treat their patients safely and well. We also operate a busy patient helpline, so you will have the satisfaction of regularly advising our Trust’s patients about their medicines. Feedback from our enquirers shows that our clinical advice is extremely valued and improves patient care.

We also counsel and advise patients after they’ve left our hospital via the Trust’s medicines helpline. This is a busy and professionally satisfying role that gives you patient contact throughout the day, even when you aren’t on your wards.

You’ll be advising on (and therefore learning about) a complete range of clinical specialities, and the clinical skills you’ll be honing are completely transferable to other areas of pharmacy. Whilst clinical problem solving is hugely important, we will equip you with many more skills to become a well-rounded and confident pharmacist.

If you’re a band 6 pharmacist who is looking for the next challenge, or a band 7 pharmacist who wants to take their clinical skills to the next level, then this is the role for you.
