Job overview
Are you passionate about supporting young people experiencing acute and complex mental health challenges? We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Kite Practitioner to join our innovative Kite Team, part of the integrated Tier 4 Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) for North Wales.
As a Kite Practitioner, you’ll play a key role in providing specialist psychiatric and mental health support within a dynamic multidisciplinary team. Working in partnership with Community CAMHS and the North Wales Adolescent Service inpatient ward, you’ll help deliver a vital alternative to hospital admission, supporting young people to receive intensive, therapeutic care within the community whenever possible.

Main duties of the job
Deliver specialist assessments, formulations, and short‑term interventions for young people with acute mental health needs.
Manage a clinical caseload independently while contributing to wider team care.
Participate in triage, risk assessment, care planning, and treatment reviews.
Support seamless transitions between services and act as a key liaison with partner agencies.
Provide expert advice, consultation and education to colleagues, students and professionals from other disciplines.
Contribute to the nursing shift pattern (09:00–21:00) and take part in the NWAS on‑call rota.
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
Support service development, participate in audits and uphold high standards of clinical governance.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse OR Relevant professional qualification e.g. Dip Social Work, Occupational Therapy
Desirable criteria
- ENB 603 or equivalent.
- ENB 998 or equivalent.
- Diploma/ Degree in Professional Nursing.
- RSCN or experience working in Paediatric Nursing.
- RLDN
Experience
Essential criteria
- Relevant post registration experience within CAMHS at Band 5 or above.
Desirable criteria
- Training and experience relating to specialist CAMHS at Band 5 or above.
- Clinical experience in an appropriate therapeutic model.
- Line management of junior staff.
- Teaching in both clinical and academic environments.
- Producing and developing policies and practice guidelines
