Rotational Occupational Therapist

Job overview

The post holder will work as an autonomous practitioner following professional codes of conduct and ethics carrying a varied caseload which can include patients with complex needs with additional supervision.

Clinical activities can take place in a wide range of settings including hospital, clinic and community settings, and patients own homes.

Main duties of the job

The department is looking for Band 5 Occupational Therapists to join the rotation in the west.  The rotation includes physical, mental health and paediatric rotations in both acute and community services including medical, primary care, stroke rehabilitation,  surgical, rheumatology, orthopaedics, community and community hospitals, acute and community mental health and children's services in clinics, schools and community services.

The successful applicants will be supervised by senior staff and supported to complete the preceptorship. There is an active Band 5 support network which gives peer support along with in service training.

North Wales is an ideal place to live and work especially if you enjoy the outdoors.  We are close to the Snowdonia National Park and the many gorgeous beaches within the area. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy, or to be in third year of training and will be appointed upon successful qualification
  • HCPC Registration or applying for registration

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of varied practice placements
  • Evidence of practice placements in an NHS setting.

Aptitude and ability

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with others.
  • Ability to implement the Occupational Therapy process with clients.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to speak Welsh
