Main duties of the job
We are looking to appoint a Patient Booking Clerk to work in a call centre environment at Ysbyty Gwynedd Bangor to provide a professional, efficient and effective centralised booking service for a variety of outpatient clinics.
You will need to use initiative in sometimes complex situations to ensure that patients are booked in line with local and national Access targets.
You will work as part of a large team, supporting other team members and will need to work closely with clinic prep staff, medical secretaries, outpatient and medical staff and with clerical supervisors and managers throughout the hospitals to deliver the Access targets and a patient focused booking service.

Working in a highly pressurised Booking Team, within a busy call centre environment. You will need to provide an accurate and efficient administrative function to facilitate the delivery of a professional and effective service for patients.
You will need to work as part of a large multi disciplinary team ensuring the delivery of Access targets and a patient focused booking service.
Person specification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Familiarity with waiting list administrative procedures and policy issues
- Knowledge of PiMS or other patient administration systems or experience using databases and excel
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Knowledge of Caldicott guidance
Skills
Essential criteria
- Meets all essential criteria as per attached job description/person specification
- Excellent communication skills both written, verbal & telephone
- Good keyboard skills for regular use of computer systems / IT skills
- Welsh Speaking level 3
Desirable criteria
- Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
- Competent in the use of PiMS or similar PAS systems
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in an acute hospital/GP practice or Call centre environment
- Experience of dealing with the general public
- Ability to work as part of a team
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working directly with clinical/consultant staff
- Previous Waiting list management experience
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good standard of Education (e.g. GCSE Maths and English A-C)
- I.T qualifications or proven experience of using Microsoft Office packages
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent knowledge and experience
Desirable criteria
- Statutory Mandatory Training as per Health Board Policy
- Understanding of basic Medical Terminology
