Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and ambitious Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic clinical team at the Pharmacy, Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor.

The postholder will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They must be keen to learn and develop themselves and will be provided with opportunities to improve their skills and knowledge.

We are looking for a compassionate leader to support staff to develop individually, in line with departmental goals. As part of the senior pharmacy management team, you will have line management responsibilities and assist with managing audit work, meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping the clinical pharmacy service through involvement with policy making, working with the multidisciplinary team and by developing the clinical pharmacy workforce. You will be responsible for the co-ordination of ward-based pharmacy technicians and assistants to ensure we provide a safe and effective patient-orientated pharmacy service.

The post holder will play an essential role in the successful implementation and roll out of an electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA) system in BCUHB West in 2025/26. Essential criteria
  • A substantial level of post qualification experience in pharmacy services.
  • Experience of managing pharmacy team(s)
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in a broad range of pharmacy services.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Registered pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • NVQ level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Services Skills or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
  • WCPPE Accredited Checking Pharmacy
  • Technician Qualification
  • WCPPE National Accredited Medicines Management Qualification
  • ILM/Management qualification
