Job overview

To assist with the co-ordination of a portfolio of clinical research across BCUHB.  As an integrated member of the research team, provide all aspects of operational research delivery support including administrative and data management support, ensuring compliance with Research Governance requirements and contribution to the delivery of the local and national research agenda.

Regular travel between NHS and other sites within BCUHB will be required

Main duties of the job

  • Provide and receive highly complex and sensitive research information.
  • Work closely with clinical colleagues and colleagues across the research infrastructure in order to contribute to robust study feasibility and set-up.
  • Contribute to management and administration of Expression of Interest Process to ensure compliance with deadlines and maintenance of database.
  • Ensure research protocol amendments are processed and implemented as per governance and legislative requirements.
  • Maintain associated research management systems, such as ReDA Portfolio Management System.
  • Set-up and maintain Investigator Site Files ensuring robust version control.
  • Data management: responsible for data collection on a specific portfolio of studies. Transcribe complex information to Case Report Forms with adequate supervision and guidance.
  • Able to receive, handle, analyse and resolve data queries promptly.  Direct unresolved queries to appropriate team member.
  • Liaise with study sponsors to co-ordinate the archiving of trial documentation, notifying all departments and research team members of study closure and preparing essential documentation for transport to external facility.
  • Ensure compliance with Research Governance, qualitative, and legislative requirements such as Good  Clinical  Research Practice (GCP), Standard Operating Procedures, Research Protocols.   

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications and /or Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent knowledge in health care.
  • Proven further education in IT. Knowledge of various software packages
  • Awareness of Research Governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies, including Good Clinical Practice.
Desirable criteria
  • Graduate in health related qualification.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience in research/hospital/NHS environment.
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of multi-professional team working
