Job overview

Applications are invited for a Support Medical Secretary within the Dermatology department

The post holder will provide an efficient administration service to support the medical secretary team.

The role will involve working closely with administrative, other secretarial, nursing and medical colleagues to providing a comprehensive secretarial support service. The post holder will be required to undertake audio typing of clinical letters, discharge summaries and other annotation and medical records handling, filing and other administrative tasks.

You will have good attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills. You must have the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently; using your initiative to contribute to the smooth running of this busy area. The post holder must have the ability to manage their workload efficiently and effectively.

Previous medical administration experience would be advantageous, but is not essential. Experience of working in a busy office environment is desirable.

 



Main duties of the job

The main duties of role will involve typing/formatting clinic letters and reports from dictated materials, promptly and efficiently, ensuring accuracy.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

It is essential that candidates have advanced keyboard skills and audio typing/word processing qualifications, with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.  Candidates should also have a good standard of education, excellent communication skills and a knowledge of medical terminology

The post holder will also be required to be part of the wider admin team and assist with the general administrative support to the service as required.

Qualification

  • NVQ Business Administration L3 or equivalent experience

  • RSA /OCR level 2 or equivalent experience (must be a proficient user of Microsoft word.
