An exciting opportunity has arisen whereby we are recruiting to the role of a Senior Assistant Technical Officer as we continue to expand our team within the Pharmacy Production Unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital.

This position offers developmental opportunities and the starting salary is dependent on experience.
There is the potential for successful candidates to commence the role on a band 2 salary, with progression to a band 3 where defined competencies and objectives are achieved within a 12-month period. Successful candidates will be provided the required support and training to aid with the progression opportunities within this developmental role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job:

As a Senior Assistant Technical Officer working with our Pharmacy Production Unit, main duties of the role will include;

Working within cleanroom environments, upholding high levels of cleanroom behaviour and comportment at all times.

Providing support for, and once competencies undertaken, participation in manufacturing of Aseptic medicinal products, including Chemotherapy for patients attending the North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre.

Partaking in maintaining the integrity of the cleanroom environment by working in accordance to strict cleaning regimes, as detailed within departmental SOPs.

Key involvement with environmental monitoring of controlled areas, ensuring a safe working environment is maintained.

Significant duties within the upkeep of the cleanroom environment, including performing various levels of cleans to limit risks of contamination.

Participation in pre-process checking of a variety of products including chemotherapy and over-labelled medicines, following completion of associated training programmes.

The role will include aspects of working as an individual, as well a member of our existing Pharmacy Production Unit team. Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GCSE pass or equivalent in Maths and English Language
  • NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Technical services or currently studying for NVQ2 qualification.
Desirable criteria
  • 5 GCSE A to C grade or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of aseptic or non sterile production
Desirable criteria
  • Pharmacy experience in hospital, community or other
  • Customer service experience

Knowledge and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
  • Knowledge of technical services procedures equivalent to NVQ level 3 in technical services.

Personal Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Have good attention to detail, in order to select, label and dispense medicines accurately.
  • Ability to concentrate when frequently under pressure and subject to interruptions.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing demands and situations
