Job overview

An opportunity has arisen for a passionate, friendly and enthusiastic individual to work as a Facilities Supervisor covering Portering Services within Facilities (Central).

The Facilities Supervisor will support the Facilities Coordinator in the delivery of efficient and effective operational services provided by the Porters within the locality.

In conjunction with peers, co-ordinate and organise day to day activities of the operational staff within Portering Services in Glan Clwyd and community hospitals.

Working hours are rotational shifts covering 24 hours, 7 days a week including bank Holidays. Shifts are a duration of 7.5 hours.

Based in Ysbyty Glan Clwyd but will be required to travel to other sites in the BCUHB Central Area.

This post holder is a key member of the Facilities team and will be required to provide support in the development of service improvements and assist with or undertake specific tasks/projects as required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Work in all areas of the department.

Communicate effectively and in a timely manner at all levels of staff both internally and externally, selecting the most practical and efficient method of communication.

Ensure the staff required to assist with patient movement across Glan Clwyd Hospital are available.

Ensure special medical gases are ordered in a timely manner and undertake audits of medical gas cylinders as required.

Deal with any issues that may arise with the allocation of residential accommodation keys and update the accommodation manager when on site, where required

Ensure compliance with mandatory training is maintained by all staff within Portering Services and undertake staff appraisals (PADR). Assess any training or development requirements highlighted during the PADR’s and report to the Facilities Coordinator.

Participate in the local induction and training of new staff members and record accordingly.

Assist in all elements of management of staff within Portering Services, e.g. sickness absence, recruitment, booking annual leave, etc. and use the appropriate system to record staff information.

Regularly use computer software including Excel Spreadsheets and ensure all records are accurate, up to date and comply with the Data Protection Act.

Report any repair and maintenance matters with regard to the building and working environment to Management.  Arrange the disposal of condemned equipment within BCU policies and procedures.
