The salary scale above has been agreed as part of the NHS Agenda for Change pay award for 2025/2026 and will be implemented in August 2025 with arrears backdated to 1st April 2025 where applicable. 

 

Job overview

Working as a member of the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Team team, providing efficient and effective secretarial support for Consultant Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, thereby supporting the delivery of high quality service to patients and staff within the Specialty.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • Accurately carry out from audio/copy/shorthand the typing of patient related correspondence/reports using the appropriate software to agreed organisational standards/competencies. (Please refer to person specification and training specification).
  • Produce standard letters on behalf of the clinical team.
  • Type complex reports/letters, ensuring accuracy and within specified timescales.
  • Ensure that accurate, timely information is entered and maintained on the appropriate patient information system.
  • Assist in maintaining the specialty waiting list, ensuring accuracy of information on relevant system ensuring:                            

     (a)   waiting lists are fully utilised.

     (b)   short notice cancellations are replaced.

     (c)   routine patients are admitted chronologically.

  • Enter patients onto waiting list, rearrange or cancel outpatient’s appointments on WPAS system, ensuring accuracy of data. 
  • Process casenotes via IFIT in a timely manner.
  • Request/dispatch casenotes from/to locations, Health Board as necessary, ensuring a timely response.

Experience
