Sirona Care and Health are seeking a dynamic and experienced Band 7 nail surgery podiatry lead with excellent podiatric skills and passion for leading and developing improvements in the nail surgery pathway. 

We are based in the multicultural southwest with easy access to countryside, city, and sea and access to national and international air and train links.

You will be joining a motivated, supportive, and friendly team based in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG). The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic and the ability to work under pressure as an individual and as a leader.

You will provide, highly specialist skills in nail surgery to enable assessment, treatment and management of a varied and complex high risk clinical and domiciliary caseload across BNSSG.  You will also provide clinical leadership to support the delivery of clinical excellence within the podiatry team.

You will work closely with the podiatry clinical pathway leads, operational leads and the podiatry clinical and operational lead (CLOP) to support the development and delivery of quality training, education, competency, supervision and clinical governance frameworks across the BNSSG geography in relation to the nail surgery pathway.

 

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You will ensure delivery of a quality service in a timely manner to improve outcomes and experiences of those people accessing the Podiatry nail surgery pathway and work as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a team.

You will be the point of contact for any system/local development or queries regarding the nail surgery pathway. You will draw from a highly developed level of clinical knowledge and experience, using differential diagnostic skills and pattern recognition to plan and execute skilled physical examinations to further inform shared decision making and patient care plans in complex patients. The post will also involve assessing and treating paediatric patients.

You will develop and lead the clinical supervision framework for the nail surgery pathway for the service and ensure competencies are reviewed and updated.

You will develop and plan nail surgery rotations for junior staff members providing resilience for the nail surgery pathway and enhancing skills of the team.

You will be required to provide support to the Podiatry CLOP and relevant governance groups in the development and delivery of quality training, education, competency, supervision and clinical governance frameworks across BNSSG in relation to the nail surgery pathway.

You will be required to work closely with the other Podiatry Clinical Pathway leads and Operational Leads and Podiatry CLOP to ensure resilience across the leadership team and all service pathways.

Qualifications and Training

  • Degree in Podiatric medicine
  • Certificate in Local Anaesthesia
  • Post graduate training at Masters level or equivalent in minor surgery and/or wound care
  • Non-medical prescriber (or willingness to undertake qualification)
  • Evidence of working as a clinical supervisor, designing, developing and delivering programmes of learning in line with evidence-based practice to peers and junior staff.
  • To be able to travel independently between sites
  • Demonstrates self-development through continuous professional development activity.
  • HCPC registration

  • Member of Royal College of Podiatry
  • Completion of relevant leadership and/or management training course
  • Can demonstrate working at a Masters level / Level 7 e.g. Masters modules.

  • Highly developed specialist knowledge and experience in minor surgery and associated wound care
  • Specialised clinical skills and theoretical knowledge within full range of podiatry practice, including diabetes and vascular foot care and wound care
  • Knowledge of national guidelines and developing knowledge of local commissioning policies.
  • Demonstration of knowledge of current evidence based podiatry management, including critical analysis of research and service data, where available
  • Evidence of competency in using ABPI/TBPI kits and interpreting results
  • Highly developed skills in communication and education for effective patient/carer/stakeholder engagement in complex management pathways and sometimes challenging/hostile environments.
  • A critical understanding of personal scope of practice
  • Evidence of accountability for the delivery of services and projects.

  • Experience of facilitating change.
  • Evidence of operational service management. E.g. capacity and demand management, diary management, waiting list management, staff leave etc.
