Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Dementia Support Worker and join our dedicated Nursing team on Ceiriog ward at Chirk Community Hospital.
This rewarding role will be to support Dementia patients during their stay in hospital. Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate care and compassion in providing support and care for patients.
Main duties of the job
The role will be to plan and carry out social/recreational activities with individuals and or groups of inpatients / service users on the ward. The candidate will have experience of dementia care and will be keen to assist in developing the service for the future.
This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive approach towards change. You will have excellent communication skills and high clinical standards with a passion to make a difference for patients and staff alike.
The successful applicant will be supported to develop skills and ensure care of an exceptional standard is delivered.
Full time post at 37.5 hours a week.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

- NVQ level 4 (or willing to work towards)

- Working in a caring environment
- Previous experience of working in a new setting, service development

- Previous experience of working with elderly patients

- Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
