We are delighted to offer a permanent opportunity for an experienced, organised, and enthusiastic Receptionist to join our friendly team at Hwb Iechyd Eifionydd.

Our practice, currently managed by the Local Health Board, operates across two sites in Criccieth and Porthmadog, providing high‑quality care to our local community.

Main duties of the job

Previous experience of working within a GP Practice would be beneficial and knowledge of the EMIS clinical system is desirable, however training can be given. The demands of a GP practice can change on a daily basis and therefore this role will be challenging. The post holder will be booking appointments and dealing with patient queries therefore excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner is required.

Proficient IT skills (including experience of Microsoft office) is also required as the post holder will also be undertaking a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the practices, including some data inputting.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a healthcare setting or a customer service environment but full training can be given to the right candidate.

The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A good standard of general education
  • NVQ Level 2 in administration or equivalent qualification/experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL
  • Word processing qualification (e.g. RSA 2, or equivalent experience)

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of using Microsoft office packages
  • Experience of working in a busy reception or office environment
  • Experience of dealing with the public on the phone and face to face
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using an IT system (e.g. EMIS, Oracle, WPAS)
  • Experience of working in a GP surgery or an NHS office environment
