Job overview
To implement all aspects of the assigned Oral Health Improvement programme/s within designated locality area, under the direction of the Oral Health Promotion Manager.
- To introduce and facilitate Oral Health Promotion programmes, at a variety of settings, dependent on the assigned programme, this may include nurseries, schools, community, care home, health and other settings.
- To support and promote the work of the North Wales Community Dental Service and to provide information about access to General Dental Services.
- To act as a representative of the North Wales Community Dental Service in educational, health, care and community settings and act in an appropriate manner to project professional practice.
Main duties of the job
North Wales Community Dental Service has an exciting opportunity for an Oral Health Educator to join the North Wales Oral Health Promotion team.
The post holder will be a key facilitator for the delivery of a programme aimed at improving the oral health of children and young people from key vulnerable groups, including those with learning disabilities, autism, and those with other health, wellbeing and social care challenges, (e.g.Children and young people who are medically compromised or “Looked After”)
The job will involve partnership working with a variety of health and social care providers in the community, including members of community learning disability teams, residential care homes, as well as community, schools and hospital-based teams involved in wide aspects of care of the younger person.
The post holder will also work closely with Community Dental Service Clinical Teams.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
