Job overview
We welcome applications from individuals wishing to become an apprentice administrator and gain experience in the NHS. You will develop new skills and knowledge whilst working with an established team gaining valuable work experience and a recognised apprenticeship qualification.
You will be enrolled with a local college and will be required to complete your level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship within 18 months. The post is 35 hours per week which includes your study time at college.
The post is fixed term for the duration of the apprenticeship (18 months) and is based at Flatts Lane Centre, Normanby Road, Middlesbrough. You will be working in the Apprenticeship and Future Talent Team
The apprenticeship post is paid at the appropriate apprenticeship rate of pay.
The successful candidate will be an important part of a busy administration team so you must enjoy working with people and have great communication skills. You will need to have a flexible approach to work and be able to demonstrate good team working. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and hard working.
Main duties of the job
General administration duties which include the following:
Producing a variety of communications to colleagues; stakeholders and others e.g. emails; reports; spreadsheets
Minute-taking as directed.
Data input onto Information Systems.
Managing and distributing incoming post and emails.
Assisting colleagues with the preparation of documents for meetings and events.
Undertaking data/evidence gathering e.g. evaluations; feedback.
Providing a friendly, professional and customer focused service to all stakeholders.
Ensuring all general enquiries are responded to in a professional and timely manner, in accordance with instruction and procedures
Directing difficult/complex enquiries to the appropriate staff.
Undertake any such duties commensurate with the post as directed by Line Manager.
A good knowledge and understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018 and a willingness and commitment to ensure compliance of this and any associated data-related legislation.
Develop and maintain an awareness of the services we provide to our patients/communities
The postholder will be fully supported during the apprenticeship and will receive a full induction and ongoing training.

Essential criteria
- As a minimum, you must have the equivalent of Functional Skills level 1 in maths and English and must work towards level 2 during the first few months of your apprenticeship.
Desirable criteria
- You must have qualifications in maths and English – GCSE grade 4-9 (A* – C) or equivalent e.g. functional skills level 2
