Job overview
We have an opportunity for a Service manager to operationally oversee a portfolio of mental health teams within the Health and Justice services . The post-holder will be responsible for leading, inspiring & overseeing the delivery of the very best care across community and prison based mental health teams. The post holder will support mobilisation of new services, lead the operational functions & strategic development across several teams.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the senior management team, joining at an exciting time as we embark on a number of service development initiatives. The post holder will be instrumental in the development and success of current and new services.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in mental health services at a senior level and an understanding of working in the criminal justice system. They must have a strong teamwork ethic, extensive operational management experience and an ability to collaborate successfully across organisations. Experience in successful service development and improvement will be a key characteristic of the successful candidate.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring clear interfaces with the collective team are in place and be a visible, collaborative partner, representing TEWV Health and Justice services.
The post holder will work closely with all service managers and clinical leaders.
Main duties of the job
This post is responsible for leading the operational functions across several Health and Justice teams.
In conjunction with team managers and clinical leads, they will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safe care delivery to patients, addressing the challenges of such delivery within criminal justice settings.
They will ensure key performance, quality framework and contract requirements are met. Partnership working is an essential and daily part of this role.
This role provides direction, support, coaching and hands on
management and leadership of the key issues of quality, safety, finance,
performance, partnerships and governance.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree level (or equivalent) training in a health or management subject.
- A commitment to Continuous Professional Development and record of achievement
- Possession of post-graduate management qualification/masters degree (or willingness to work towards) or equivalent level of experience and knowledge
Desirable criteria
- Professional clinical qualification eg RMN, Dip SW, OT and have experience of the design and management of services
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience of all aspects of staff management.
- Significant experience of management including project, service and operational management.
- Demonstrable experience of managing and delivering to agreed budgets.
- Demonstrable experience of performance management and performance appraisals.
- Demonstrable experience of setting and delivering to agreed targets.
