Job overview
Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist for maternity cover to work within the Neurodevelopment Assessment Team for Teesside.
The Neurodevelopment Assessment Team for Teesside assess children and young people aged 5 - 18 years old for ASD. The team covers the areas of Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Redcar. The successful post holder will be based at The Glades, Acklam Road Hospital, Middlesbrough, TS5 4EE.
The post holder will work alongside the wider MDT which includes psychiatry, nursing, support workers, admin staff and psychologists.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will assess children and young people to identify language concerns and ASD traits. The post holder will work within the MDT to assist with the diagnostic outcomes for children and young people being assessed for ASD.
The post holder will be responsible to keep up to date with mandatory training.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful individual is required to hold the relevant qualifications. Please refer to the attached job description and person specification for further detailed information to ensure that you meet the role criteria before applying.
You will be expected to work Monday - Friday. The post will be to commence as soon as possible with a period of induction and training.

Applicants must ensure that prior to applying they have agreement from their current line manager that they can be released on a secondment basis. In the event that permanent funding is secured for this post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Essential criteria
- Appropriate professional qualification in Speech and Language Therapy role
- Current relevant registration with specific regulatory body
Desirable criteria
- Post graduate training in relevant specialist area
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Understanding of the needs of service users with mental health conditions or learning disabilities.
Desirable criteria
- Clinical risk assessment and application in practice
- Knowledge of evidencebased practice in designated specialist area
- Post graduate training in specialist area if applicable to post (e.g. dysphagia, autism diagnostics)
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience of managing complex Speech and Language Therapy cases
- Awareness of professional standards and its application to practice
Experience
Essential criteria
- Minimum 12 months post qualifying experience of Speech and Language Therapy delivery
Desirable criteria
- Experience of supporting people with mental health issues, learning disability or autism
- Experience of working in Multidisciplinary Team (SW essential criteria)

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
