Job overview
Please note this is a part-time (15hrs per week) 12 month fixed term contract, working within the Scarborough Community Mental Health team for Older People.
In the event we are unable to appoint a successful candidate to the Band 4 Med Sec Role, a developmental Medical Secretary role will be considered at Band 3. We would encourage those who do not meet the Band 4 criteria but do meet all of the Band 3 criteria to apply on this basis.
In a developmental role, it would be expected that the post holder has the time/support and training to consolidate and enhance the skills and knowledge required to perform at the band 4 Med Sec level. There is also an expectation that they will have completed the relevant qualifications and completed a competency framework within the 12 month fixed term timeframe before progressing to the Band 4.

Main duties of the job
This role is at the heart of the multi-disciplinary team which means you will work closely with consultants, junior doctors, nurses, psychologists, OT's and management to ensure that they have everything admin wise they need to provide the best possible care to our patients.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable multitasking in a busy environment, who is confident offering supervisory support to other admin staff. Someone who can communicate confidently, build strong working relationships with a variety of people, who can prioritise their workload and who is genuinely interested in understanding and supporting the challenges that mental health care provides.
Your main duties will be to provide comprehensive admin support to the consultant and medical team, which will include digital dictation and/or copy typing of patient letters, providing diary management, MDT/CLS minute taking and recording confidential and sensitive information on Trust systems accurately and timely. Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will work with the team administrator to deliver admin support. Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Level 3 Qualification in relevant field or equivalent experience or willingness to work towards Level 3 in Business Administration.
- Key skills/functional skills in literacy and numeracy Level 2 OR O Level (Grade C and above/New GCSE in Maths and English (Grade 4 to 9) are an essential requirement to be fully competent in the role.
Desirable criteria
- RSA Level 2 or equivalent Secretarial/administrative experience in a clinical environment.
Experience

- Experience of working in an administrative environment (diary management, filing systems, meeting coordination, minute talking, data input, collating and presenting information).
- Customer Service experience (face to face, answering calls, correspondence).
- Experience of organising completing demands and workloads.
