We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced and reflective Consultant Applied Psychologist who has both passion for and experience of working with older people and their families. The post is based at Cross Lane Hospital in  Scarborough  in North Yorkshire , it is available full time but we would consider part time at a minimum of 0.8 wte (30 hours).

This post will involve clinical leadership for the Mental Health for Older Persons inpatient service and acute mental health liaison with some additional involvement in supporting the organic inpatient service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder would provide a much valued and high quality applied psychological provision through consultation, supervision, formulation, training, and participation in clinical governance. You will work with highly complex presentations suitable for an experienced psychologist through applying expertise and knowledge and adapting both formulation and evidence-based approaches in individual and person centred ways. Supervising other professionals and assistant psychologists to deliver lower-level interventions will be an essential aspect of this role.

The post holder will be an integral and key member of collective leadership teams influencing psychological thinking, promotion . More widely they would make valuable contributions to the development of psychological professional networks across NYYS. Engagement with learning is central to our Psychological Professions strategy in Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust; we host clinical trainees from a four Doctorate Programmes, have a strong portfolio of clinical research and provide bespoke funded continuing professional development programmes for all staff.

If the contract type on the vacancy states 'Fixed Term' this would mean the vacancy is being advertised to address a temporary need for the duration stipulated on the advert, however, in the event that permanent funding is secured for the post the successful applicant will be confirmed in post on a permanent basis.

Trust Welcome Day

Here at Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys Foundation NHS Trust we want you to have a positive experience when you start your new role with us. To ensure you have great welcome, for all new starters joining the Trust, we offer two start dates per month on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of that month.
