Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a senior nurse to take on the role of Lead Haematology Nurse cross-site at Bedford and Luton and Dunstable Hospitals.
The post holder will be a clinical expert in haematology, a forward-thinking and supportive leader, with a vision for integration of the nurse-led service.
They will work closely across disciplines, to support with the development and achievement of the haematology service strategy.
Main duties of the job
Provision of visible leadership, guidance, support and direction to staff within haematology
Clinical credible with significant experience in all areas of haematology, malignant and non-malignant and carry out clinical responsibilities as able within the confines of their role
Work in partnership with the clinical director, general manager and head of nursing to deliver the objectives of the haematology department

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To facilitate and drive change across haematology in line with the Trust change agenda and to do so in conjunction with clinical and managerial colleagues
To ensure that staff within haematology understand the relevant performance and access targets and lead, manage and motivate staff in the delivery of those targets.
To act as a senior leader in the Trust, deputising for colleagues as required and acting at all times with maturity and sensitivity to the organisational priorities
Work as a core member of the senior leadership team, offering suggestions, guidance and acting at all times with maturity and sensitivity to organisational priorities.
Always work in a way that is constructive and collaborative with colleagues

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Education, knowledge and experience to masters level or equivalent
- Registered Adult Nurse (NMC)
- Management/leadership qualification or equivalent experience
- Further relevant haematology training
- Evidence of continuous professional development
Desirable criteria
- Project Management Qualification

- Proven experience of working in a management/leadership role
- Experience of managing and motivating a large team or teams
- Leading changes in practice in a complex environment
- Leading complex projects
- Business case development
- Clinical credibility in haematological nursing (malignant and non-malignant)

- Emergency planning/critical incident management course (HMIMMs/ALS)
