Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Simulation Technician to work as a member of the Medical Education Team at the Bedford site, to support the delivery and growth of Simulation Based Education (SBE).
Main duties of the job
The role demands a high level of technical, administrative and communication skills that will support all aspects of Simulation. The post holder will ensure the maintenance of the simulation suite and clinical skills room is upheld. There is a requirement to operate the computer and audio/video (A/V) technology, including all manikins and simulation suite equipment and to also help set up and take down manikins and clinical skills equipment for specific training sessions. The post holder will have responsibility for the preparation of the training environments, managing equipment stock levels, maintaining equipment and ensuring resources are available for all training programmes. The post holder will also assist in the provision of audio-visual and other learning resources, in the clinical skills, simulation and educational environments. This position involves working closely with the Simulation Lead and Simulation Faculty to provide a safe, well equipped skills training environment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To work closely with the Simulation Lead, the Clinical Skills Tutor, the Clinical Teaching Fellows and the wider Simulation Faculty to:
- Ensure all learners receive clinical skills teaching opportunities in line with their curriculum.
- Work closely with the Simulation Lead, the Clinical Skills Tutor, the Clinical Teaching Fellows and the wider Simulation Faculty to organise simulation training for all learners.
- Work closely with the Simulation Lead, the Clinical Skills Tutor, the Clinical Teaching Fellows and the wider Simulation Faculty to deliver clinical skills/simulation in its widest sense to meet NHSE and CQC standards
- Contribute to the management of the monitoring and auditing process of clinical skills and simulation training, to ensure data is widely available and is transparent as well as compliant with the various external or internal guidelines
- Act as the main point of contact for all technical aspects of SBE activities including, but not limited to high-fidelity manikins and audio-visual systems
- Directly facilitate and assist with training programmes using simulated patients (actors) and patient simulators. This will include:
- Delivering training both in the education setting and clinical areas
- Setting up and running clinical scenarios alongside clinical educators
- Operational delivery of technical elements of courses, e.g. simulators, medical devices, AV equipment
- Assist with delivery of simulation by the means of patient role-play
