Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced administrator within the Support Services Team in the Pathology Department. The successful candidate may be required to assist with the issuing and filing of diagnostic reports and supporting the core service work of the department. This will involve a measure of independent judgement in order that the priority work will be maintained at all times.
The post holder will need to demonstrate a commitment to the delivery of high quality service to patients and other service users.
Some weekend and extended day working (20:00) may be required

Main duties of the job
- The post-holder is expected to accept and undertake work in a willing manner and put their time to effective use.
- Enter results onto the Laboratory Information management system(LIMS). This could be audio or paper.
- Enter patient requests onto the LIMS system.
- Type minutes from audio recorded meetings as appropriate.
- Disseminate agendas, minutes and action trackers ahead of pre booked meetings as appropriate.

- To ensure an administration service as may be appropriate to department needs.
- General Office duties to include, data entry, typing, filing, distribution of post, booking courier runs.
- Distribute typed reports and copies of reports as appropriate.
- Be the first point of contact for written, telephone and personal enquiries on behalf of the department using own judgment to establish validity and priority of the contact, and who to pass the enquiry onto.
- Answer general telephone enquiries.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Maths & English GCSE or equivalent
- RSA 1 or equivalent
- Secretarial & admin experience
Desirable criteria
- RSA 2 or equivalent
- NVQ II in Customer Care or equivalent
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a secretarial/clerical environment.
- Working knowledge of MS Office
- Standard keyboard skills
Desirable criteria
- NHS or Public Sector experience
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Data entry / standard keyboard skills.
- Ability to prioritise and organise own workload & maintain a high level of accuracy.
