Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our well established Paediatric Physiotherapy team.
The role will hold a mixed caseload of neuro-developmental patients and general paediatric patients (depending on need). Training is available for all aspects of the role.
Main duties of the job
To provide specialist paediatric physiotherapy assessment, treatment, advice and information for children and their families referred to the paediatric services based at the Child Development Centre. The children often have complex needs requiring expert input. To provide reports, teaching, advice and information for other members of the multi-disciplinary team and for more junior staff members ensuring a comprehensive, seamless service for children with physiotherapeutic needs. To contribute to service development and audit ensuring the service remains evidence based, up to date and fit for purpose.

1. Manage own caseload of patients referred, taking responsibility for assessing, treating and discharging these patients.
2. Work in a variety of settings which includes schools, homes and the acute paediatric ward.
3. Supervise and teach less experienced physiotherapists, assistants, under-graduate physiotherapy students and work experience students
4. To undertake a comprehensive assessment of patients, including those with complex presentations/multi-pathologies and use advanced clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition.
5. Use clinical reasoning skills and evaluate outcomes of treatments to continually reassess and develop treatment programmes.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of relevant post graduate courses/CPD
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial experience as a rotational physiotherapist providing broad range of experience to cover skills needed in rotations within NHS
- Working knowledge of broad range of paediatric conditions.
- Supervision of Technical Instructor, assistant and work experience students.
- Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Basic IT skills – able to access research results
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and its implications
- Understanding of legal responsibility of the profession
- Able to present information, written and orally in a clear logical manner
- Ability to organise, prioritise and delegate
- Ability to keep records in an accurate, legible and concise manner, meeting all legal requirements
