About the Role
Are you an experienced and motivated Dental Nurse looking for an opportunity to lead a dedicated Out of Hours service? Community Dental Services CIC (CDS) is seeking a Senior Dental Nurse to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality urgent dental care across two sites in Suffolk. This is an exciting opportunity to combine clinical practice with leadership responsibilities within a supportive and patient-focused organisation.
This is a flexible Bank position with an average commitment of approximately 10 hours per week. Clinical sessions are delivered on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, with a small amount of flexible weekday administrative time required to manage rotas, approvals and service coordination.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Management: Manage sessional rotas for dental nurses and dentists to ensure seamless weekend and bank holiday coverage.
- Clinical Excellence: Deliver high-quality clinical dental nursing and lead patient triage for a diverse patient base of adults and children.
- Clinical Governance: Oversee strict compliance with local and national clinical protocols, including HTM 01-05 decontamination guidelines and infection control audits.
- Health & Safety: Carry out regular workplace risk assessments, manage safety procedures, and report operational incidents.
- Patient Care: Reassure patients, explain emergency procedures, and provide clear pre- and post-operative instructions.
What We Are Looking For
- Professional Registration: Evidence of continuous, current registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
- Mandatory Training: Completed compliance training in Basic Life Support/CPR, Infection Control, Safeguarding (Children & Adults), and Information Governance.
- Flexibility & Mobility: Ability to travel between our clinics in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich (a current driving licence and access to a car is desirable).
- Reliability: A commitment to managing and securing rota cover from within the team if you are unable to work your scheduled session.
