Job overview

We are looking for a Clinical Support Worker with an interest in Gynaecology who feel they can complement our friendly, conscientious and caring team of nurses.

Ward 34 is a 17 bedded inpatient unit caring for gynaecology patients. It is a small and friendly unit, providing physical and emotional support and a high standard of nursing care. We have a fast turnover of patients and pride ourselves on receiving excellent feedback from the friends and family test.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Support Worker you will be supporting our nurses to care for patients with a wide variety of gynaecological conditions including problems in early pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, post operative care and cancer patients. You will be involved in a variety of duties including bathing, toileting and monitoring observations.

A flexible working approach and ability to deal with the sensitive nature of women’s health is required. You will be expected to be able to work a variety of shifts, including long days, twilight, nights, weekends and public holidays.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Assist with admitting, discharging, transferring and escorting patients in line with Trust policies, e.g. escort guidelines.

Once training and assessment of competence is obtained carrying out tasks and planned care as designated by a registered nurse e.g. baseline observations, bathing and toileting.

Contribute to the promotion of equality for all individuals by supporting anti-discriminatory practice, patient/client choice and acknowledging individuals personal beliefs and identity.

Maintain personal and organizational standards of health, safety and security, e.g. following the uniform policy.

Appropriately respond in the event of a health/clinical emergency e.g. cardiac arrest.

Experience

  • Previous experience in Gynaecology as a Band 2
  • Demonstrable experience in dealing with a patient who is distressed

  • Experience in using digital systems in a health care setting
